Our History

New Expectations for Women in Mississippi (NEWMS) is a special project of the CREATE Foundation in Tupelo, M.S., NEWMS serves a 16-county area by promoting organizational activities and tracking needs in the community.

The goal of NEWMS: encourage local women to reach their potential through services focusing on health, education, leadership, and philanthropy. By sponsoring workshops and classes addressing challenges facing women, and by serving as a networking system and resource center, NEWMS assists women of all ages and backgrounds in finding solutions to take on those challenges.

NEWMS was started in 2004 after seven business women:  Shawn Evans, Rubye Del Harden, Terri Williams, Sandi Morris, Juanita Floyd, Mary Pace, and Mary Werner spent a year brainstorming on how to address the specific needs of Northeast MS women.
